Open BotFather on Telegram

BotFather is Telegram's official bot for creating bots.

Open BotFather →

Create a new bot

Start a chat with BotFather and type /newbot

Name your bot

BotFather will ask for a display name, then a username ending in bot (e.g. OpenClawBot).

Copy the bot token

BotFather sends a message containing your token. Copy the entire token — it looks like 123456:ABC-DEF...

Paste the token into OpenClaw

Go to your Chat tab and send this message to your agent:

"This is my Telegram bot token: <token>. Please help me configure the connection to Telegram."

⚡ Takes about 2 minutes. You just need to run one command and scan a QR code.

Open the Terminal

Click the SSH button in the toolbar at the top of your dashboard to open the terminal panel.

Run the Login Command

Copy this command and paste it into the terminal, then press Enter.

openclaw channels login --channel whatsapp

Find the QR Code

A QR code will appear in the terminal. If it's too large to display completely, drag the divider between the chat and terminal upward to increase the terminal height.

💡 Tip: drag the divider between chat and terminal to resize if the QR is cut off

Scan with Your Phone

Open WhatsApp on your phone → tap the ⋮ menu (top-right) → go to Linked Devices → tap Link a Device → point your camera at the QR code on screen.

iPhone: Settings → Linked Devices Android: ⋮ → Linked Devices

You're Connected!

You'll see a confirmation message in the terminal like "WhatsApp gateway connected as +1xxxxxxxxxx". Your AI agent is now live on WhatsApp — send it a message and it will reply.

⚠️ If Something Goes Wrong

"Unable to connect to this device"

On your phone, go to WhatsApp → Settings → Linked Devices, delete the failed device, then run the command again in the terminal.

QR code not fully visible

Drag the divider between the chat and terminal upward to increase the terminal height until the full QR code is visible.

QR code expired before scanning

QR codes expire after ~60 seconds. Just run the command again to generate a fresh one.

Agent disconnects after a few days

WhatsApp personal linked devices stay connected as long as your primary phone is online at least once every 14 days. Just re-run the login command if it drops.

Install the Google Workspace skill on your agent

Your agent needs the gog skill to communicate with Google APIs. Run this command in your agent terminal — takes under 10 seconds.

Create a Google Cloud project

Go to console.cloud.google.com and click Select a project → New Project. Name it anything (e.g. My OpenClaw Agent).

💡 If you already have a Google Cloud project you can use it — just make sure billing is enabled (free tier covers this).

Enable the Google APIs

In your project navigate to APIs & Services → Library. Search for and enable each of these:

📊 Google Sheets API Read/write spreadsheets Enable →

Configure the OAuth consent screen

Go to APIs & Services → OAuth consent screen. Choose External, fill in your app name and email, then click Save.

⚠️ On the Scopes page, skip adding scopes — your agent handles this automatically. Just click Save and Continue through each screen.

Under Test users, add your own Google email address so you can authorize during testing.

Create OAuth 2.0 credentials

Go to APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth client ID.

A Application type: Desktop app

B Name: OpenClaw Agent (or anything you like)

C Click Create, then Download JSON

✅ You'll download a file called client_secret_*.json — keep it safe, you'll need it in the next step.

Open Credentials Page →

Send the credentials file to your agent

Open your Chat tab, attach the client_secret_*.json file you downloaded, and send this message:

"Set up Google Workspace using the attached credentials file. Enable Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Docs."

Authorize your Google account

Your agent will reply with an authorization URL. Click it, sign in with Google, grant the requested permissions.

1. Your agent sends a URL starting with https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/auth...

2. Open that URL, sign in with your Google account, click Allow

3. Google shows a confirmation code — copy it and paste it back to your agent
